DHN London Meeting
Sunday, 19th September, 2010 from 2pm-4pm
at Commonwealth Hall, Cartwright Gardens, University of London
12-18 Cartwright Gardens. WC1H 9ED
Presented by: Tina Lawlor Mottram accompanied by Beverley Evans
This presentation will focus on the benefits of healing and meditation combined with creative work for people with long-term illnesses and conditions. We will also take a detailed look at the effects of introducing healing, meditation and visualisation into a school environment.
Tina Lawlor was born in Dublin in 1962 and studied design in Ireland, followed by a postgraduate at the London College of Printing (now London School of Communication). She was diagnosed as an insulin dependent diabetic in 1980 and her work as a healer is influenced greatly by this illness. She is an accredited healer from the College of Psychic Studies. Living with a long-term illness herself provided the impetus for her recently published book “The Tree of Light; working creatively with long-term illness”. This was a Lottery funded project to work creatively with people with long-term illness at the Sunlight Centre in Gillingham in Kent and also included trips to the healing clinic at the College of Psychic Studies. Tina will discuss aspects of her work as a healer, including living with Diabetes Mellitus and the patient’s view of medical perspectives on long-term complications. Drawing also on her experience of working in the Wednesday Group Healing Clinic at the College of Psychic Studies since 2004, Tina will discuss her personal experiences of psychic surgery with Ray Brown. Tina’s book, published in April 2010, “The Tree of Light; a creative response to longterm illness” will be available for members of the DHN to view or purchase. Published by www.themomentisnow.org.uk.
Tina has many years publishing and editing experience; she has worked for Collins Books, HMSO, the Royal Armouries at the Tower of London, as Editor of Sunlight News and has project managed various eco art projects including Full Circle. Tina, with many years publishing experience, is also the Editor of Light, the bi-annual review of the College of Psychic Studies. She has also worked as a teacher/trainer in Spain, Hungary, Sweden and the Czech Republic for over 10 years, including volunteer work in Spain in a centre for people with HIV, where she ‘discovered’ healing. www.basida.org/.
Tina will be accompanied by Beverley Evans, a participant in “The Tree of Light” creative project and also Deputy Head at Oakwood school in South London, where Tina has been working as a spiritual healer since January this year. Funded by Bexley Behavioural Federation, we believe this is the first paid pilot project with healers working in a UK school. Beverley supervises the work of both healers in the school and will discuss the behavioural difficulties of the children, many of whom are on the ASD (Autistic) spectrum, and/or live with ADHD and are on medication. Oakwood is classed as an EBD school ie for children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.

“Our aim is to explore the growing movement towards integrated medicine and show how meditation and healing can be used alongside conventional treatments to help patients. It’s also an opportunity for healers, complementary therapists, and all interested others to attend an up-to-date conference on healing and spirituality for the purposes of Continuing Professional Development.” Dr Jean Galbraith, Chair, DHN London Branch
The London branch of the Doctor Healer Network working with The National Federation of Spiritual Healers, brought together a team of dedicated health professionals to explore concepts of holistic healing and spirituality in the 21st Century in a major conference at the Friends Meeting House, London, on Saturday 6th October.
Speakers included Professor David Peters, Chair of the British Holistic Medical Association (BHMA); and NHS Healer, Angie Buxton-King, who has been employed as a Healer since 2000 and now manages a team of complementary therapists at University College Hospital, London.
Other events during the day included a 21st Century meditation and a ‘Healathon’, where delegates were able to participate in group distant healing. Nurse and singer-songwriter Lou Beckerman performed some of her award winning work.
